What is a static QR code?

Static QR codes can contain a website URL, Wi-Fi credentials, contact details or plain text. The pattern itself is fixed. Generating one in QR Yours does not require an account.

You cannot change the embedded address after printing. You can update the content served at that same address: a fixed menu URL can still show a revised menu. Wi-Fi credentials and contact details embedded directly in a code need a new code when they change.

What is a dynamic QR code?

A managed code contains a redirect address. QR Yours keeps the destination in your account, so you can edit that destination while retaining the downloaded image and printed code.

Managed codes can record eligible redirect opens within reporting allowances. Static codes generated here do not provide QR Yours scan analytics. Dynamic codes require an active, compliant account and QR, the service and a working destination.

Which should you choose?

A QR pattern has no built-in lifetime guarantee. A static link can stop being useful if its website moves or goes offline. A managed dynamic code also depends on its service, plan and account state.

  1. Use static for guest Wi-Fi, a fixed contact card or a stable link when you do not need QR Yours reporting.
  2. Use dynamic for posters or packaging whose destination may change, or when recorded campaign activity is useful.
  3. Check plan and PDF limits, then scan-test at the intended size before printing.
